Deprecation notice for forecasts for North Sea waters and coastal waters

As of 16-03-2026, the datasets marifoon/1.0 and shipping_forecast_north_sea/1.0 have been deprecated. As of 19-05-2026 the datasets will no longer receive updates. You are advised to migrate to the new forecasts dataset maritime-forecasts/1.0, which fully includes the maritime forecasts.

These datasets are being phased out because the maritime forecasts have been integrated into a new forecasts dataset. The new dataset is designed with a more consistent structure and improved scalability. This simplifies maintenance and ensures long-term sustainability. The existing datasets are formatted products, while the new dataset is computer-readable and delivered in a standardized structure. To obtain the same end-user products as before, additional processing or formatting by the user is required. This approach makes forecasts easier to integrate into automated workflows.
